The fashion book I am most looking forward to this year is Giorgio Armani, set to be released in May. I’ve had a few disappointments in the fashion books I’ve most recently read (which I haven’t yet talked about on the blog, but I will), so what I am hoping from this one is for it to tell his story, to paint a complete picture of one of the greatest fashion designers and his clean design aesthetic, to call upon the many years of his fashion house, upon its beginnings, influences and evolution of the Armani style. The book will be written in Armani’s own words and presented in photographs from the likes of Steven Meisel, David Sims, Craig McDean and Mario Testino, which I hope will closely follow the designer’s creations and sources.
This is an older, very good interview with Giorgio Armani (his disarming honesty about not having someone special around to share everything he has today with, the “intoxicating cocktail of insecurity, ambition and vision” that has brought him his success), one I hope you will enjoy too.
