It was the safari jacket that Yves Saint Laurent reinvigorated in the late 1960s, gaining iconic status. Today, the safari style remains a classic. In a simple colour palette of khaki, beige and elegant whites, the pieces in this Mango lookbook, ranging from utilitarian jackets and ground-sweeping skirts to loose-fitting trousers and weightless blouses (I love the large button-flap pockets on the one in the second image, so representative for the safari look), are romantic, effortless and wearable, so fit for summer (the socks are an element I can do without though). Of course this inspires me to write about the costumes in Out of Africa (1985). Coming soon.

For me, this is the first time that Mango impressed me with their campaing and collection. I really love this one.
I can just imagine camping colonial style in the African desert dressed in these gorgeous pieces…

Yep definitely the 2nd image – the white loose shirt and soft straight leg pants! Lovely..xx
Mango has become my new favourite shop! Not only are their clothes beautiful and sophisticated, but they are also affordable (big bonus for me)! Off to source that maxi skirt now!
Love the looks: especially the colors and fabrics!
I never get tired of the safari look and colours. It’s so easy to make it work. This weekend I was telling myself to watch Out of Africa again because I was watching an episode of ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ with Robert Redford. They of course talked about the film, which has always been a favourite of mine. Now I cannot wait to see your post.
Wonderful safari style! Wow, I didn’t think Mango was able to do such classy pieces of clothing! Very good article. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Lovely shoot. I love the clothes and the model is amazing!
🙂
Thanks for sharing Ada.

I love this campaign and could see myself wearing all of these classic pieces. The loose fitting trousers are beautiful and I love the maxi skirt xx
Mango did a fabulous job with this, didn’t they? I love safari style and I can’t wait to hear your take on the costumes from Out of Africa. One of my favorite films 🙂
Hope you’re having a lovely week! xoxo
These looks are gorgeous! Nice to get some background on the fashion too 🙂
I adore the parka – perfect length and great colour. Hope I’ll get a chance to look at it before it sells out. Hope you are well, darling and enjoying your weel. xxx
I love all of these images and clothes! I’ve been quite a bit to Mango the past year, what I have noticed though, the cuts are quite good, but the quality of the material could sometimes be a bit better.
Loving these safari inspired looks! xx
Ada, this post is so inspirational and so full of great energy: summer all the way and lovely fabrics! Is this mango? I can not believe it! :*

I haven’t tried the quality of the materials in this line yet, I hope it comes in natural fabrics, because, yes, this is sometimes a problem at Mango too.
I loved the movie, one of the most beautiful and the actors are one of my favorites: Robert and Meryl, so sad, but so romantic 😉
Oh, Mngo makes fantastic campaigns. I especially like the fourth look. Thank you Ada!
I love this safari style – the neutrals and the tomboy/rugged look with feminine details. There’s something minimalist about it too. I recently got a khaki maxi skirt and find myself reaching it for it all the time. It’s so versatile, understated and casual and yet has a nicer look when jeans feel underdressed.
that second look is my fav!
xoxo navy & orange
I’m a fan of sily blouses and fluid silhouettes. Great lookbook, maybe I should stop by Mango this w-e…
