In line with the African theme of the last two days, here is the latest Louis Vuitton campaign film, The Spirit of Travel. The message is even more beautiful than the imagery. One of my favourite parts is “Never ask for directions; just be where you are.” And have you seen how free, spontaneous and natural Edie Campbell is when she runs towards the end of the film? She doesn’t seem she was taking directions, does she? Just traveling without any layouts, just being herself. The stylist was none other than Carine Roitfeld, the photographer was Peter Lindbergh and the campaign was shot in South Africa. Before seeing the film, I have to admit that I had wondered if any of the photos had been manipulated, but I was glad when I read that all of the animal interaction was real.
And while we’re on the subject of Louis Vuitton, I’ve recently read this lovely post on Francisca Mattéoli’s blog: The world – A story of photograph albums. Photographs help tell your story and they also keep it going. So true! As you may know, Francisca wrote World Tour, a tribute to travel, a world tour to legendary hotels and destinations around the globe. I also had the honour to interview her one year ago. Have a wonderful weekend!
