Having some me-time is important. Every single day. It can be having coffee by yourself early in the morning before anybody else in the house is up, or your morning exercise routine in the park, or taking at least half an hour at the end of the day to read a favourite book, or whatever it is that helps you carve out your own space for calm and balance, and for your own pleasure and nobody else’s.
I also think that it’s important to be able to enjoy your time apart from your boyfriend/partner/husband. I like doing something on my own from time to time, like going to the movies by myself, for example. I prefer it that way actually and it’s one of those little things that can make any day better. I also enjoy having our home for myself for the evening, or a table for one once in a while, or visiting my parents by myself on a weekend trip. I believe it is healthy to keep and appreciate your independence and respect the other’s, just as it is comforting to know that you can do so many things together.
