I mentioned last week that I have a new favourite TV series (which, by the way, doesn’t feel at all like television): House of Cards. I think Robin Wright makes the greatest role of her career in it. And I also have to say, and my husband will admit to it, that I’ve become a little obsessed with her: with the graceful way she has aged, with her short hair cut that’s making me seriously consider a new hair style, and with her wardrobe: if I needed another reminder that there is nothing more elegant, sophisticated and ageless than simplicity, the most minimalistic, sharp, clean, essential form of style, then Robin’s outfits do just that.

Now I need to watch the series. 🙂 And yes, she is gorgeous, especially on these photos. Adore the short hair so much. x
When I saw Emma Watson’s haircut I was shocked, but there are this kind of beautiful women who look tres chic with a short haircut. I am sure you will, too, Ada 😉
Thank you, Florina. Actually, I had a similar hair cut several years ago and lately I’ve been thinking of cutting my hair this short again.
I have never understood why Robin Wright didn’t have a more successful career. Well, I guess that depends on how people define success. What I mean is that I would have liked to see much more of her in films. I remember when I was a teenager watching the tacky Santa Barbara soap opera, or whatever the name was, and really liking her as an actress.
Lisa, this is what Robin said in the Evening Standard: “I was just beginning this new path with my kids grown and I really wanted to sink my teeth into movies”, referring to director David Fincher persuading her to do a television series. I think her children were the main reason why she left her career aside for a while. I’m glad she’s back and she’s better than ever. I’ve seen her in a few films and I liked her acting, but this role is simply on a whole new level.
Beautiful!
xx
She’s seriously amazing and I have to see House of Cards! I’ve heard amazing things!
She always was/is quite stunning. I agree the short hair suits her very well and it’s the ‘pared down’ effect in everything not just clothes… it’s the hair and makeup that gives a very slick, minimal vibe lacking of any overly animated gestures and embellishment. Almost a zen like quality to these pictures. I absolutely adore short short hair but it’s been years since I’ve chopped it all off (like 2 inches all around!) – but its very freeing. And besides it dries so quickly:)xx
I was waiting to come back to this post until I watched House of Cards–I literally devoured the entire season over the last 2 days. She is gorgeous, everything about the way she looks is iconic, gorgeous, perfect. I can totally see you with that cut Ada!
xo Mary Jo
p.s. I would say it’s my favorite show yet, except that I just made it through 5 seasons of Breaking Bad and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything I liked so much. But that’s something to talk about another day… Maybe when you and Sorin come out to California?
Ada, we are also obsessed with House of Cards! I discovered this TV series only few weeks ago because a friend suggested I may like it, and since then both my husband and I love it! The plot is cleaver and the actors are amazing. Also, I completely share your views on Robin…and her hair! The short haircut I have in mind for me is exactly the one she is sporting in these pictures…
