Here are my latest finds and news from fashion, style, film, design, photography and beautiful living.
• The Sartorialist in Madrid opens today, June 14th, and runs through August 5th. Madrid is not among my plans for this summer, but I would be so curious to see Scott Schuman’s works up-close. The first photo above is one of my favourites of his. It was shot in 2007, the year I began following The Sartorialist, the first and only blog I followed for years until I started mine. Besides the incredible capture what I also loved about that photo was the story behind it.
• A look back at the film directors and leading ladies who have graced the covers of the French Vogue from the 1960s until today: film on the covers of Vogue Paris
• I’ve known for a while about the book Icons of Mens Style by Josh Sims, but it was not until I browsed through it recently in a library that I decided to add it to my wish list
• Maison Martin Margiela for H&M: a new capsule collection that will hit stores on November 15
• An elegant home overlooking the Sydney Harbour and Opera House
• A lovely read: interview with Reed Krakoff
• Isn’t this pretty drew box clutch a nice option for the summer?

I loved those film covers from Vogue FR – all my french cinema viewing in a nutshell thru the late 80’s to 90’s! I adore Juliette Binoche – and interestingly I noticed that its all about the eyes and lips for the french – can you see it! Even the early covers – its all eyes and lips and really really close up – .. and everyone looks so beautiful and unique and individual. These days, I’m afraid more and more models and actress all look the same- same hair, same lips, same teeth, same body. Thanks for sharing.
I’d love to be in Spain for that exhibit too!
I’ll have to check out the Reed Krakoff interview next …:)x
Hope you’re having a great day.
Yes, the accent is always on the face, eyes and lips. But as you mentioned, Helen, those covers are strikingly beautiful because of the naturalness and uniqueness of the ones on the cover. It’s becoming painful to look at editorials and fashion magazine covers today.
Ada, you could not give me better news! I am going to Madrid on the 28th of June and will be there for 4 days so I am sure I’ll be visiting the Sartorialist’s work. I am more a fan of Garance who has a particular sense of humour that I admire, but Scott is also a great fashion stalker 😉 The BR clutch is exquisite! Kisses
Oh I wish I could attend the Sartorialist exhibition in Madrid; the stories behind his shots are always so lovely. That Sydney home is incredible too – what about that view! Off to see your other links! xx
I think The Sartorialist was the very first blog I’ve ever discovered. You are absolutely right abou the story behind every image – that’s what sets him apart from everyone else. Sometimes I pull out his book and browse the photos just for that very reason. By the way, I’ve always loved that first photo (red dress + miu miu shoes), too.
Off to read the interview and have a look at that clutch.
Wishing you a wonderful day, darling!

I am curious about the Maison Martin Margiela collection for H&M!
Nice images. i love the clutch!
I so enjoyed browsing through these French Vogue covers. I still remember that b&w Vanessa Paradis cover from 1991. I was living in Zürich, funny how one remembers things.
I wish I was on my way to Madrid so I could view Scott’s work. I also wish that Sidney home was my pied-à-terre 😉
Whenever I see Notebook pages as the post I get super excited! I wish I could take a trip to Madrid. Seeing Scott’s work would be the icing on the cake 🙂 xoxo
Oh my gosh Ada…I’m in love! 🙂
That house overlooking the Sydney Opera House is like a dream come true for me! The floors, the natural lighting…. going back to swoon!
…and how handsome can a gentleman be? Wow!
J’aime beaucoup les photos!!! Les petits sacs sont tres chouettes!!!

I would be very happy to plan a trip to Madrid! Like you, I think that The Sartorialist was one of the first fashion blogs I started to follow few years ago and his shots never fail to impress me.
