We are celebrating St. Nicholas Day tomorrow and, as I do every year, I like to acknowledge the holiday here in the journal. Because of the beautiful tradition, because it’s one of children’s winter joys (and everyone else rejoices with them), because of the wonderful childhood memories of me and my brother, and because the days start to carry a hint of Christmas from now on.

Happy Nicholas Day for tomorrow Ada. Enjoy your weekend:)
beautiful memories far away of a commercial Christmas… the images are wonderful, Ada! Have a great St. Nicholas Day

Yes, the much too commercialised side of Christmas is one thing I don’t like about the holiday, Maria.
I love the peaceful mood echoing in these images (just what I needed after my not so great start of December!). The children and I were just talking about tomorrow. St. Nicholas Day isn’t celebrated in the UK, but if we still lived in Luxembourg or Belgium we would be greeting Santa tomorrow … good memories.
Happy St. Nicholas Day tomorrow, Ada, and enjoy your weekend!
these images perfectly capture that sweet and quiet joy of christmas and that is what i hold close to my heart as well. have a wonderful st. nicholas day ada! (i love that tradition i wish we celebrated it here as well. i remember last year reading about it here and thinking i should try to incorporate it into our traditions – next year maybe :))
