The story began a few years ago in the US when the first GANT Rugger (a menswear brand) shop was opened at 353 Bleecker St in New York’s west village neighborhood. Girls were coming in and buying men’s shirts. I can totally relate, because I, too, love the boyfriend look, but also think that men usually seek for better quality in clothes than women, hence men’s clothes are of higher standards. And, so, the #girlsingantrugger movement was born. I personally love the collaboration of the brand with Columbine Smille, as these looks are so close to my personal style. She pairs GANT Rugger tweed blazers, chunky sweaters and worn-in oxford shirts with pieces from her own wardrobe and the result is a perfect feminine-masculine style.
The black and white portrait ones are my favourite – although they show the clothes really well, these images also go beyond advertising… They definitely feel more like a story. Also it’s so true about mens fashion and quality! I often say it to my husband whenever we go shopping for him. Just the fabrics alone are much much better, softer, more luxurious and it’s before I even mention the way the jackets and coats are made… x
Gorgeous photos and now I’m curious to try one of the shirts!
These photos are truly incredible.
Love the mood in these images, and I’m with Mary Jo, I’m curious to try one of the shirts.
i have never heard of the brand, but the photos are gorgeous – i am going to have to check it out further.
