Dior by Dior

One of the latest additions to my fashion book collection is Dior by Dior, the autobiography of Christian Dior, which offers a detailed insight into the birth of the legendary fashion house and into the exclusive world of the Parisian haute couture during the 1950s and its demanding and fascinating creative process. The book is all the more special as it reveals not only the couturier Christian Dior, but the man Christian Dior too – the private side which I would have liked the book to be even more focused on. I would like to end with one of my favourite quotes from its pages: “High fashion need not be directly accessible to everyone; it is only necessary that it should exist in the world for its influences to be felt.”
