Today I have the pleasure to introduce you to one of my favourite bloggers, Rachel of Little Bits of Lovely. Her beautiful blog is never short of inspiration when it comes to fashion, style, design and a healthy dose of lifestyle advice. Welcome, Rachel!
PS: I try to get away with jeans and heels as often as I can too.
{Equipment Brett shirt, Lanvin ballet flats, LV Speedy tote, Country Road wet look jeans}
How would you describe your style? Classic, chic + comfortable. I don’t really adhere to trends, but instead invest in classic items (like shoes, bags, silk shirts + blazers) and then update my wardrobe each season with key pieces. I also only wear what I’m comfortable in. I’ve made the mistake of wearing clothes that in theory I like the look of, but are really just uncomfortable + end up making me feel awkward.
Who are your style models? Emmanuelle Alt, Audrey Hepburn, Olivia Palermo, Miranda Kerr, Alexa Chung, Jenna Lyons.
Your signature day outfit: skinny jeans, blazer, ballet flats + t-shirt.
Your signature evening outfit: a maxi dress glammed up with sparkly flats, jewellery + a clutch. Or if I can get away with it, jeans + heels!
Is there an item you don’t leave the house without? My watch – not only practical, but a fabulous accessory.
Your favourite wardrobe item: my leather jacket I bought 6 years ago from a store on eBay, of all places. It is such a classic style that I have worn season after season and I still get compliments each time I wear it. People are always surprised when I tell them where I got it from!
5 pieces a woman should have in her closet: a white t-shirt; a good quality + versatile handbag; a fabulous scarf; black blazer; a good pair of jeans that can be dressed up or down accordingly.
What is the most underrated piece in a woman’s wardrobe that should deserve more attention? The white t-shirt. Invest in a quality white t-shirt + it will take you everywhere. Easily dressed up or dressed down, it is a wardrobe staple for me. My favourite is James Perse.
{Country Road blazer, James Perse white t-shirt, DVF scarf, Prada bag, Current Elliot skinny jeans, RayBan Wayfarer sunglasses}
Can you choose from these?
Flats or heels? Flats.
Shoes or bags? Bags.
What is your favourite fashion decade and why? I adore the overly feminine, lady-like + glamorous era of the 1950s and early 1960s. During this time, fashion (think cinched waists + full skirts) celebrated women for their hips, bust and everything else that makes them a woman. If only women were celebrated as much today for their curves!
Neutrals, pop of colour or colour blocking? Pops of colour. I largely stick to a palette of black and white, but add in colour to make it more fun.
Stripes, polka dots or florals? Definitely stripes!
Above the knee, knee-length or mid-calf? Slightly above the knee.
Audrey or Marilyn? Audrey.
Paris or Milan? Paris, of course!
A style quote you live by or the best style advice you have ever received or your own piece of advice on style: “Fashion fades, but style remains eternal” Coco Chanel.
Thank you for stopping by, Rachel. It was a pleasure.
Thank you Ada for letting us meet her. I am so happy about her favourite decade and the way she justifies it – I am happy there are other women who share my opinion. Lovely!!! And happy there are so stylish women who are not fashion victims,…or trend victims, to be more specific.
How wonderful to find Rachel in your Chic Files!
I love her answers, they reflect the exact image I have of her in my mind after following her stylish blog for a long time.
I love those Country Road wet look skinny jeans – they’re currently on high rotation in my wardrobe too:) And the signature day outfit is always a good way to start the day! :)x

Such a wonderful interview! Love Rachel! What a wonderful addition to your Chic Files. And I found myself nodding my head in agreement with all of her answers 🙂 xoxo
I follow Rachel’s lovely blog and I enjoyed this post very much. I too like to have classic investment pieces which I then update and I’m a huge fan of scarves to add a pop of colour to my otherwise neutral tones. I love the vibrant colours of the scarf shown here.
