I’ve travelled every day this week. Not physically, but mentally. Each evening, I could hardly wait to turn in so that I would be transported to different corners of the world by Francisca Mattéoli’s captivating stories. You see, after my interview with her, Francisca surprised me with the most wonderful gift: her book, Escape Hotel Stories: Retreat and Refuge in Nature, which arrived last week. Her beautiful dedication moved me to the core of my being and left me speechless. What else can I say but a humble thank you for her priceless gesture and words?
Francisca has a way with writing that truly takes you away. In her book, she tells us about eco-friendly hotels around the world, each uniquely beautiful and in harmony with its surroundings, giving voice to the necessity of environmental awareness. We are taken on an inspirational trip around the world, from the sun-drenched Tuscany to the wild beauty of Africa, from the one of a kind Easter Island, Chile, to the ravishing spectacle of nature in Ishikawa, Japan, and many equally fascinating stops in between. The author interweaves her own journeys with stories of writers, painters, filmmakers, artists who once drew inspiration from those places: it’s like you follow into their footsteps to discover the wanders of nature, being given the chance to have a glimpse into their creative minds. It’s a wonderful journey.
Here is to a great weekend filled with all the things that make you happy!

This looks like the most amazing book; I’ll have to look out for it.
Ada, you couldn’t have chosen a better day to post this one because my copy of the book arrived this morning and I could have hugged the postman! I’m currently reading a book that takes me to North Africa every evening and when I finish it I will also be travelling to these beautiful places in my mind.
