A Moment in Fashion: Salvatore Ferragamo Summer 2011

Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2011-8
Celebrating timeless collections, of past and present.

There is no wonder this collection had a timeless vibe. It was inspired by the wardrobe in La piscine, Jacques Deray’s stylish film, which, unsurprisingly, continues to influence fashion after 45 years. Romy Schneider’s relaxed elegance and Jane Birkin’s free-spirited style have found the perfect correspondent in this sophisticated, yet carrying a light and very bohemian feel Salvatore Ferragamo collection. There are utilitarian and safari looks, and there are looks of the most nonchalant glamour, a combination that couldn’t be more ideal for summer. The sand, beige, white and khaki hues further induce an unrestrained summer feel – clothes do have an effect on one’s spirit, too.

Without much effort at all, everything here could seamlessly find its place in my wardrobe. Head-scarves haven’t looked so pretty since Grace Kelly and Romy Schneider wore one, the crocheted dresses are both playful and chic, the perfect linen suit is present, too, and if there is one example that could convince me that a cropped-top look can be elegant, then the outfit opening this blog post is the one.
