A checked coat for Fall

Madame Figaro September 2013 by Laurent Humbert 1

As we near the cold weather, I’m trying to figure out if I do need another coat (I don’t think I do, but every season I seem to give in to a new one), before all the nice pieces fly off the racks. I like to pay the proper attention to a coat, because I think what you really really need in winter is a good coat and a good pair of boots. And you can not compromise when it comes to these. Plaid has been back in the limelight for a while now, although it never goes out of style for me, and this season isn’t short of amazing checked outerwear. It’s chic and comfortable, a look I think we all aim for in the cold months. And if you otherwise stay away from print mixing, a checked coat can transmit the right opposite message, even if the rest of your outfit is monochromatic and of a strict simplicity. It can easily change the mood of your look, while still keeping it flawless and classic.

Zara checked coatHere are some favourite options for a checked coat. I have a crush on this country-meets-chic Zara jacket in red, black and white. Red is a colour I would love to wear more often, but a red coat would be too much for me, so this is exactly what I was looking for to offset an all black look.

A classic, elegant outerwear is something worth investing in, and this Vanessa Bruno is one to splurge on. Or you can save by choosing this perfect Mango alternative at a fraction of the price.

I wish you a wonderful weekend!
